The Brief & Engagement

Redsbaby engaged COG Marketing to replatform their eCommerce operation from BigCommerce to a WordPress CMS with WooCommerce, addressing performance limitations, operational friction, and scalability constraints within their existing setup.

The scope extended well beyond a simple platform switch. The brief required:

  • A low-risk replatforming strategy with minimal disruption to business-as-usual operations
  • Front-end UX design aligned to an in-house creative direction team
  • Complex content and product migration, including configurable inventory
  • SEO preservation, indexation control, and search performance continuity
  • A future-ready CMS architecture capable of supporting ongoing growth

The objective was clear: migrate without losing momentum – operationally, commercially, or in search visibility.

The Challenge

eCommerce replatforming introduces risk across multiple fronts – revenue, search rankings, inventory integrity, third-party integrations, and internal workflows.

For Redsbaby, success depended on:

  • Identifying and managing platform dependencies across systems, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Preserving SEO equity while restructuring site architecture
  • Maintaining paid performance efficiency during and after migration
  • Ensuring design accuracy across desktop, tablet, and mobile, down to the pixel

The project required precise planning, disciplined execution, and tight coordination across technical, creative, and marketing functions.

The Solution

COG Marketing led the replatforming through a structured, phased delivery model designed to remove uncertainty and protect performance.

Discovery & Strategic Alignment

The project commenced with a stakeholder workshop to surface pain points, clarify must-haves versus nice-to-haves, and define success metrics. From here, we developed a clear 1.0 launch scope and a 2.0 evolution roadmap, allowing Redsbaby to go live confidently while planning future enhancements.

Technical Replatforming & UX Delivery

A full audit of the BigCommerce environment – including sitemap structure, product inventory, and third-party plugins – informed the build of a new WordPress + WooCommerce platform in a dedicated staging environment.

Key inclusions:

  • Front-end UX design delivered in close collaboration with Redsbaby’s in-house Creative Director and Graphic Designer
  • Full content and product migration, including configurable products, shipping matrices, bundle purchases, and POS inventory integrations
  • CRM connectivity and scalable hosting infrastructure

SEO & Data Integrity

Search performance continuity was treated as non-negotiable. Our team:

  • Mapped legacy URLs and implemented structured 301 redirect frameworks
  • Reindexed the new sitemap through Google Search Console
  • Optimised Google Suite integrations to maintain visibility, attribution, and performance tracking
  • Delivered a clean site architecture to support both organic and paid performance strategies post-launch

The Results

  • Successful go-live with zero critical disruption to business operations
  • Full migration from BigCommerce to WordPress + WooCommerce
  • Improved CMS flexibility, merchant control, and scalability
  • Preserved and stabilised SEO performance through the transition
  • Clear site architecture enabling improved paid media efficiency
  • Pixel-accurate UX execution across all devices

The Redsbaby replatforming stands as a textbook example of how to migrate a high-consideration eCommerce brand without sacrificing performance, brand integrity, or search equity.
